Shrouded House - simple and serene

... just because it's such a calm and serene space, with beautiful, natural material: Shrouded House. This beautiful home is situated in in Toorak, Melbourne, Australia. It's designed by Inarc Architects, for a young family of four plus a dog.... Love it!

How to pick a color for your wall

Now, that is a creative solution! Paint your walls to match your art!

In other words - first buy or make the art you love.
Then pic a color from the painting and paint your walls with that. Via

Adding some pastels to the old and used

Pastels are trendy again. Like the soft shades from the Rococo (late 18 century). Or 1950s, like the ones seen here. Trendy means easy to find in stores, if you feel like adding some color to those things and surfaces that need a touch up. What's your preference? Blue or green? Or almost grey?

DIY - Make your own art this summer

OK, so you think you are not an artist, but love to paint? Well, here is your chance to learn how to paint colorful, abstract flowers. Very clever DIY tutorial by artist Carla Sonheim. On the image above you can see how she goes from the color dots on the left to the flowers on the right!
Click here to become an artist this summer! Good luck.

Natural, elegant and eco-friendly

Beautiful new design by the Berlin based design studio ett la benn. The "kami" collection of pots, vases and home lighting is made of 100% biodegradable cellulose, an enormously solid and light material, "kami" transforms this most abundant natural raw into objects for daily use by simple air drying.

Concrete Bath

I love the simplicity in AgapeDesign's product photos. The concrete surfaces really bring out the beauty of the design. The space in the image above is like a temple. (Others may say it looks like a prison bath!) All photos via Agapedesign.

Agapedesign's list of designers is really impressive. Like in this case - it's Spanish born, award winning designer Patricia Urquiola, who designed these bathroom furnitures. New design with a wabi sabi feel, don't you think?

Pinhole Window View

I am absolutely mesmerized by Dutch designer  Monique Habraken's
graduation project Pinhole Window View, 2010
This is how she describe this work on her webpage:

Pinhole Window View expands the pinhole principle
to encompass an entire room and its contents,
with a tiny hole in the window forming the only light source.

Light-sensitive emulsion was painted
onto a piece of natural fibre textile at the back
as well as some furniture and then ‘developed’
in the same way as a regular photograph.

Captured in the emulsion are ghostly cityscapes
and stark silhouettes of tables and chairs in an interplay
between the interior and exterior surroundings.

Stunning!!

Bedroom and Bath in one

While getting my daily dose of Pinterest, I found a pin from Cez
of an interesting image of a Norwegian woman's new house in Italy.
After some much needed renovations,
this is what the combined bedroom and bath looks like now.

I love the clever storage/sink/miror wall dividing the rooms.
Simple and good looking! Mixing old and new materials. I like.

Great rugs for your floor. Mattor som rena konstverk!

Ahhh, this is one of those occations when I wish I was a rich girl! Don't you just love these rugs from Nanimarquina? Hand knotted of natural wool, silk and mohair. Beautifully photographed in Spain.

This awesome rug collection is called Chillida, decorated with a selection of Spanish artist Eduardo Chillida's work (1924-2002). All images from Nanimarquina

Fler bilder: Nanimarquina
